Dan Sun received her bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Nanjing Medical University. After winning a distinguished undergraduate student award, she pursued graduate study and earned a master’s degree in the Department of Bioinformatics at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Currently, she is a doctoral student supervised by Dr. Soojin Yi in the same program, exploring genetic mechanisms for behavioral differences between the two plumage morphs of a songbird. Her research is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She has published in PLOS ONE. In the spring semester of 2015, she was an exchange student at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
