Research Interests

My current research focuses on the evolution of immune-related genes and genetic pathways in highly-admixed populations. I am interested in unraveling the factors that drive the high rate of evolution of these genetic factors that are over-represented in ancestry-enriched regions.

I am also interested in the consequences of epigenetic modifications in early development. Such research requires cleverly-designed studies to capture epigenetic modifications during critical periods of life and assess causal outcomes at a much later time period. The challenges introduced by this research question intrigue me.
