The Bioinformatics interdisciplinary graduate program is pleased to report that our faculty selection committee has reviewed the nominations for J. Leland Jackson Fellowships. Three Bioinformatics students have been selected for Best Paper awards.
Rohini Janivara (Advisor Joe Lachance),
Best Paper PhD Student = $1000 fellowship
Rohini is first-author for a publication currently under review in “Nature Genetics,” for her publication, “Heterogeneous genetic architectures and evolutionary genomics of prostate cancer in sub-Saharan Africa.”
Neha Jain (Advisor May Wang)
Co-Winner for Best Paper MS Student = $500 fellowship
Neha’s first-author publication has been accepted to ACM GECCO, which will be in-print July 2024. Her paper title is, “EMxDesign: A Genetic Algorithm for High Affinity Drug Design.”
Vishva Natarajan (Advisor Matt Torres)
Co-Winner for Best Paper MS Student = $500 fellowship
Vishva is first-author for a publication under review in “Molecular Pharmacology.” His paper is on “Molecular dynamics reveals altered interactions between belzutifan and threonine 324-phosphorylated hypoxia inducible factor-2.”
