Emily graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2020 with a B.S. degree in biology with a focus in quantitative biology and a minor in environmental science. Since then, she has been a member of the Gibson Lab at Georgia Tech. Her thesis work is focused on fine-mapping eQTL for genes associated with IBD using a method known as expression CROP-sequencing (eCROP-seq). ECROP-seq combines CRISPR-Cas9 and scRNA-sequencing to measure the impact of variant specific perturbations on nearby gene expression.
