Hey there! I'm Joel, currently pursuing my Master's in Bioinformatics at Georgia Tech. I did my undergraduate in biotechnology engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, India. My undergraduate dissertation at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, India, involved the identification of microRNA variants resulting in the differential expression of rice genes associated with domestication. I worked as a project assistant in the Cancer Systems Biology lab at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India, for about a year before joining Georgia Tech. Besides studies, I enjoy playing all kinds of sports despite not being good at any of them. You can see me going on hikes every other weekend.
I am part of the Lachance lab working on decoding the genetic mechanisms of polygenic diseases in African populations. My research interests include population genetics, cancer biology, genomics, and evolutionary biology.
